Probably the coziest sofa type you shall come across, the English rolled arm (or club) sofa dates to the turn of the century with has a British countryside vibe. Some of the features include a tight back soft generously sized pillows recessed arms plus low rotate legs on casters. It could do wonders in contemporary decor, adding that touch of warmth that contemporary house need.
Borrowing it name from the town of Tuxedo Park in New York, the tuxedo sofa is considered one of the hints signaling contemporary in the 1920s. The style is defined by arms the same height as the back (usually taller than other sofa designs mentioned in this post), inspiring glamor as well as interesting. If first versions from sofa came a single row of "tufts" also exposed legs. Pillows are voluntary but add comfort, especially to a chair with high arms.
The term mid‐century contemporary describes a significant design movement from roughly the mid‐1930s to 1965. The sofas attributed to this style normally have a streamlined form with low, frequently square legs. It is fair to say that when it comes to mid‐century contemporary sofas few rules apply. You may recognize them for their retro appearance use of organic shapes with powerful geometry. One thing is certain: if properly integrated in a contemporary interior their look shall surprise plus inspire.
