Designed by Danish industrial designer Anders Backe, the Nest is a simple, viable piece of furniture constructed for urban spaces. We found this hybrid on Beautiful Life and the inspiration connects two cultures: “The idea behind the furniture is to combine characteristics of the Japanese design tradition with western preference for comfort and functionality. Redesign the traditional futon bed toward a young user group, while challenging the mind-set concerning a multifunctional piece of furniture for a small area.
Custom doesn’t have to mean expensive as all it takes is a person who creates these pieces as a passion, who isn’t as interested in huge profits, but rather takes pleasure in the joy of creating the piece. In 2014 we have already seen and will continue to see a grow in custom furniture and personal touches within the home.
While the hues of the pillows themselves don’t have to match, they should relate to the overall color scheme of the room. Another secret to mixing prints: Vary the scale, both within a room and among throw pillows. If your living room has curtains with a large-scale print and a rug with a small-scale one, choose a throw pillow with a print that falls somewhere in between. Pull colors from the surrounding space.
